On Friday, November 11, NTMWD Staff hosted the Leadership Rowlett group on a tour of the Wylie Water Treatment Plant. Staff provided an overview of the District, which included information on history, service areas, water conservation, outreach initiatives, and ongoing major projects. The group then toured the Wylie Water Treatment Plant complex to see operations in action. Led by Jeff Striplin, Assistant Water System Manager, Leadership Rowlett attendees visited the various points along the journey of water including a stop at the raw water pump station, sedimentation basins, ozone facility, control room, and environmental services laboratory.
NTMWD operates one of the largest water treatment facilities in the country with four water treatment plants working together at the complex in Wylie. It is the largest combined facility in the world to use ozonation as its primary disinfectant. Ozone is the fastest working and most powerful disinfectant process available.
